Scars

Room 29 have done some amazing thinking, and had deep discussions about scars. What they are, where they are, why they are important, why they can be insignificant (unimportant), and ultimately what they mean to us.

When I wrote the writing unit for this topic, I was truly astounded by all the quotes, images and ideas I was able to tap into, to help the children of Hiringa syndicate get ideas to spring board their writing.

I came across a really interesting blog, called "one minute writer", and they even had a topic for one day being "scars". The subtitle of the blog says, "You have 1440 minutes in a day, use one of them to write". Well I think this is an interesting idea.

I would love you to accept the challenge and write on a topic for a minute. The topic I would like you to write about is 'shadows'. Let your imagination run wild, use descriptive language, show us;don't just tell us what you see, feel, smell, taste and smell.

You are all fabulous writers, and I look forward to reading your one minute shadow postings.

All you have to do is start the timer on the left of the page for 1 minute, and get writing about 'shadows'. When the timer 'tings', please stop writing.

I have written one to help get some ideas started. This was more difficult than I thought it would be. Have a go !!!

The shadows stretched across the lawn, reaching out, trying to clasp more daylight hours. Reaching in terror of being lost to the night, the moon is not their friend.

hi everyone
im about to take the one minute writing challenge

shadows slink like slinky malinky, looking for light in the possesion of their taller body. when darkness comes it swallowes the shadow in its dark gaping mouth.

Hi Lucy,

I really enjoyed the images your piece of writing gave me.

The taller body idea might be one worth exploring more. When are they shorter, wider, thinner (more opaque ) etc? Lucy you have set the mark high, I look forward to you writing more, and others accepting the challenge.

Hi guys,
I'm going to take the one minute writing challenge.

Shadows cross along the grass,
in the moring sun.
Blinding some peoples eyes,
for them not to see again.
When the sun goes down your soul sucks it back up again.

Hi.
I did the one minute writing challenge.

Shadows do notlike the light,
in fact they run away.

They also like to be individual,
or else they wouldn't be noticed.

The shadow was usual enough, nothing special. But as the daylight hours grew, so did the shadow, until it stood beneath me. I towered over it for a change.

hi everybody

i'm going to take the 1 minute writing challenge.

shadows come from the morning sun slinking like cat's in the alley way giving protection to people in need.

What happens to shadows when there's not light?

Are they like the stars at daytime? They are still there but we simply cannot see them. What do you think?

The shadows called my name and coaxed me into the dark. Who were these strange creatures - a figure of myself, my soul, or some strangers I had never met before. All I knew was that they made me feel safe and at home.

The shadows I create on my bedroom wall dance around as I move my hands. The more I move my hands the more they change their shape, sometimes funny, sometimes creepy. They talk to each other with their silly voices, keeping me happy at night.
