School is something New Zealanders tend to take for granted. Often we forgot that school is where we meet friends (which may last a life time), play, learn skills which we will definitely need in the future.
All children should play, have a right to free education and everyone should be given the opportunity to live healthy, happy lives. Unfortunately not everyone does. But you can give them a helping hand.
On Friday the 5th of December, room 29 will be holding an in-school fundraiser, helping to 'raise the fun', for the people of the Kharikohla Area, of Nepal, by raising funds to donate to Band-aid Box. Room 29 will be having stalls, selling jolly jars and slushies (additive free), running loads of fun activities including hoop toss, swing ball, party games and an amazing race.
Children will exchange cash for Balmoral Bucks (available from outside room 29 on Monday and Tuesday mornings before school). There will also be a large container which any stationery donations of pencils or un-used exercise books can be put in.
Please help us, to help them.

Hi Everyone
Just out of interest how are your rice doantions on freerice.com going?
I have added another link under the band-aid box, which is an animal rescue link. You simply click on it to make a donation of food (it costs you nothing). Of course make sure you read the site carefully.
I was also wondering how you feel after you have given to a charity?
Do you think the younger children in the school know what the fundraising is for? From my conversations with them, I am not sure that they do know.
Maybe we were right that giving money to a charity is easier or more simple than giving time, knowledge or other resources. What do you think?
I look forward to reading your posts.
i dont think they know what we are reaserching about maybe we can say we are fundraising for baind aid box it is a charity from nepal ect
the other poster in the school eg rm 18 have unisef come along to our gala day
hi it is kasey
i feel good for helping band-aid box knowing that i'm helping a child who has nothing. not even a pencil because we are so lucky to have all these great things to help us at school.
see you
hi i dont actually mind if i am giving anything to the charity(bandaid box) because we are just so lucky to have all of the resources and i dont think the younger children in school know what the fundraising is for cause someone should explain it more clearly and simple. i think its easier if we give resources to the charity because we probably have more resources than money.
I agree with nima about giving resources to bandaid-box. we have more resources then money so thats why it is good to donate resources
Do you think that by going around and talking to the children at our school increased their awareness of The Band-aid Box?
When Robyn from The Band-aid Box visited our school on Friday, she went around to the junior classes and read her book to the children. Do you think this would help the juniors understand our charity more? If yes why, if no why not?
I personally think it would have helped. Can you think of books which have made a lot of impact on you? What are they?
I look forward to reading your posts.
my donations have been going good ive donated 4260 grains so far
ill go and cheack out the donations to animal rescue
Hi its brooke here
just answering trishs question A book that was taken to my heart was called my best friend Marly its about a dog and the relationship beetween the dog and the man was just nice and i had a dog just like marly.i think its good for robyn drake to tell the littlys a story because then they can understand what we are doing and why and they will agree with it.
Thank you Tarz and Brooky for your fantastic comments.
I am really impressed with the sensible comments.
Great to see most people use the blog for the purpose it was set up for.
i feel good after i have donated to a charity because it's like giving money to the poor and it will put a smile on some poor person's face and i am saving lives.
I agree with kasey because its true that kids in nepal dont have a pencil and i think that some kids in nepal dont even know what a pencil is.
